August Timetable is out!!!

Megamoonlighting

Hey ladies!!! We’d like to give a quick shout out about our Mega Moonlighting being held on Saturday July 31^st!!! The day runs from 10am ‘til 10pm and will be lots of fun of course!!! Spots are booking quickly so give us a call if you would like to attend.

August Classes

Copy Cat - This month’s Copy Cat features colours with an almost regal feel to them. Susan is using the brand new papers from MME in gold and aubergine tones.

The girls get to create their layouts with the stunning ‘Brook Collection’ from Crate Paper this month. Natural tones of cream and brown teamed with olive green and aqua make for a perfect colour combination.

Dimensional Pop - Pop goes bold and dramatic this month with Black and White with a surprise splash of colour!  You’ll be using My Mind’s Eye ‘Meadowlark’ so bring in your portrait 1 4x6 B&W and 2 ¼ size portrait B&W photos.

Take 2 - The gorgeous vintage inspired Fancypants range ‘Roadshow’ forms the base to Kerryn’s kit this month.

Classy Cards - August sees Michelle experiment with the Bella Blvd ‘Estate Sale’ range in shades of Robin’s egg blue, pink and brown to create her card masterpieces.

Sketched! This month’s design features 5 photos; 1 6x8 landscape, 1 4x6 portrait and 3 3x4 (1/2 size) landscape.

As per the many requests we have received August’s timetable features a Scrapbook Basics class and a Next Step class held on consecutive days.  Come and learn the basics with us on Monday August 2^nd and then on Tuesday August 3^rd we will up the anti and take your scrapbooking to the next level. This timetable also features an additional Sketched! class on Friday August 6^th for those that have had trouble getting into this very popular class.

Create-A-Page

We are pleased to announce the winner of this months Create-A-Page is…drum roll please… Di McDonald!!! Congratulations Di!! Di’s stunning page featuring a patterned paper blocked background teamed with inking and hand stitching will be up on display for the next month. Di is also the happy recipient of a $20 gift voucher to spend in-store.

We still have a couple of kits for sale.  This month’s kit features papers from MME ‘Quite Contrary’ range and one of our absolute favourite designs featuring cute little birds.  The papers and cardstock are teamed with velvet ribbon, an entire packet of bling, ticket stubs and scalloped chipboard corners.

New Stock

We’ve had heaps of new stock hitting the shelves over the last couple of weeks now that stocktake is over for another year.

Bo Bunny - Peacock lane, Block Party and Sun Kissed ranges all bright and bold designs. Peacock lane features whimsical designs in purple, teal, white, grey and lime green; Block Party is bold and fun in shades of cream, brown, red, blue and green; and Sun Kissed is perfect for those beach memories.

My Mind’s Eye - These guys can do no wrong in our opinion and are still one of our favourite companies!! We love their ‘Meadowlark’ range in black and white! Just divine!!!  Their ‘So Sophie’ range features gorgeous double sided decorative edge papers as well as their usual stunning double sided papers and embellishments.

We also have received the latest releases from Pink Paislee, BasicGrey, Fancypants and the latest issue of Scrapbooks etc magazine.

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea

A big thanks to the ladies who joined us in store for the biggest morning tea fund raising event for cancer research…we had a lot of fun, ate way too much (in the name of a good cause of course) and managed to scrapbook a little too!!

July Classes

Copy Cat - Cute and girly sums up this months Copy Cat with Susan! You’ll be using papers from Crate Papers ‘Paper Doll’ collection - colours are pink and raspberry.

Take 2 - Crate Paper features in Take 2 this month! Kerryn gets to play with shades of orange, pink, brown and cream using the ‘Pink Plum’ range.

Product Pick - an Olde World / Vintage theme could emerge this month as Product Picks kit consists of stunning papers from Prima!!! mmm… Teamed with manilla luggage tags, lace, chipboard and more….

Dimensional Pop - Lynette turns up the heat for a boyish layout using Bo-Bunny’s Paradise range of papers. The colours are rich navy, orange, beige, yellow and brown.  LOTS of boy lurve…

Classy Cards - Christmas in July is the theme of Classy Cards this month as Michelle gets festive to help launch you into the Christmas spirit!!! Yes, it takes a lot of organisation and an early start to complete all those gorgeous handmade cards.

Trend Studio - Melissa branches out into the world of divided scrapbook pages in this month’s Trend Studio.

Sketched! - 8 photos make up July’s Sketched! 3 4x6” landscape photos and 5 portrait  ¼ size photos.

July also sees the school holidays descend upon us so be sure to check the timetable out for Kids Club Scrap and Teens Club Scrap. We have also added an extra Copy Cat class on Friday July 9 for those who have had trouble getting in on other days.

Mega Moonlighting

This months winner is Sue Kerkin!!  Congratulations Sue!!! Sue’s page ‘A Daughter is…’ is a beautifully executed page featuring ribbon weaving, hand stitching and bead work. Thanks to all of the other entries as always the creativity is truly inspiring!

Fifth Birthday Celebrations

Our Fifth Birthday celebrations were a great success…thanks to everyone who called in to wish us well or joined us for cake, those who scrapbooked ‘Birthday Crop’ style all of whom snaffled up some wonderful bargains while at it!  A huge congratulations to Tracy Mossop who was the very excited winner of our birthday hamper draw.

 

May Special Events

Scrapbooks etc are proud to hold the ‘Biggest Morning Tea’ for cancer research on Thursday May 27 from 10am-12 noon. This is the fourth year we have staged the event and it is an event that we hold dear to our hearts. Bookings are essential with all fees going directly to the Cancer Council. On this day we hold raffles, have give-aways and being a morning tea - lots of scrumptious goodies to eat!!  Oh! and some scrapbooking thrown in too.

Join us for Moonlighting on May 21^st when Melissa escapes back to the 80’s with music trivia.

 

Create-A-Page

 Woo Hoo!! Congratulations to Di McDonald for her gorgeous page ‘Dinosaur Tracks’. Di’s playful page shows imaginative use of all the kits elements as well as the fantastic use of the BasicGrey Dinosaur stamps… You can admire Di’s work when next in store. A big thanks to the rest of the ladies who entered their pages in this month’s competition!  The calibre of work is always outstanding and very inspirational.

June Events

Our June timetable also sees the return of ‘The Next Step’ for those that have completed the beginners class but are unsure of what to do next. Also due to high demand we have put an extra weekday ‘Sketched!’ class and an extra ‘Take 2’ class on the timetable to lessen the amount of people who unfortunately miss out on getting into these popular classes.

We are throwing a pajama party!!!! Moonlighting on June 18 is your chance to come scrapbooking in your nice warm comfy winter pjs - mind you, if you want to wear your jammies every Moonlighting, who are we to judge??  Nothing like being warm and cosy and not having to change when you get home after midnight.

Woo Hoo!!! Not everyone is turning 5 today but WE ARE!!!!!

 

Five years ago today, the 12 May saw Susan, Lyndal and Shirley nervous, excited, anxious and a bundle of nerves as Scrapbooks etc opened its doors for the very first time.  The anticipation... Will anyone turn up? Do we have enough stock? Will we be a success?

 

Fast forward to present time and YES! People did turn up! We had plenty of stock and were continually filling the shelves with new releases as well as keeping a ready supply of all basic scrapbooking supplies.

Have we been successful? We'd like to think we are!  Our team of 3 on opening day has grown to 9 with Melissa, Nikki, Lynette, Kerryn, Michelle and Amanda joining us at various stages along the way, we have the best teachers in Brisbane and a customer base that any store would be proud of. 

 

We have so much to be thankful for and a lot to celebrate so please come and join us!!!

 

Our four day Birthday Celebration blasts off tomorrow morning, Wednesday 12^th May at 9am and continues through until close of trading Saturday 15^th May at the special time of 5pm (includes Thursday late night trading until 8:30pm).

 

Every day you can join us for cake! Be early because we all know Lyndal has a sweet tooth!!  Then on Friday and Saturday between 10am and 12noon you can attend our free make and takes (numbers are limited) with our talented Michelle Greed.

Our Birthday Crop on Saturday 15^th May is sure to be lots of fun and for only $15 (including lunch) you can scrapbook from 10am till 5pm!  Hurry - there are only a couple of vacancies left.

Fifth Birthday Celebrations and May Timetable is OUT!

Happy Fifth Birthday to us!!!!

May signifies a major milestone for us as we celebrate our fifth birthday!  Our doors opened on May 12 2005, months and months behind schedule. In some ways it feels like we have been here forever -- a permanent fixture but then on the other hand you wonder where the time has gone, almost like you could have blinked and missed it all.

There have been a lot of changes in the scrapbooking world over the last 5 years - trends have come and gone and what did we used to do before chipboard?  Some companies have unfortunately fallen by the wayside thanks in part to the global financial crisis while others have seemingly gone from strength to strength. As much as we have enjoyed all of the new scrapbooking products that have come our way, we have enjoyed sharing them with you more. You, our customers are what makes us a store and we feel fortunate that over the past 5 years you have let us into your lives and shared your memories with us!  We’ve laughed, cried, made fun of and we’ve celebrated good times. So let’s celebrate some more with our party plans. Saturday May 15^th we are holding a Birthday Crop from 10am-5pm.  7 hours of cropping time for only $15 including your lunch so you won’t lose any precious scrapbooking time or any of the other fun events we have planned. Stay tuned as more information regarding our Birthday Celebrations will be revealed at a later date.

Create-A-Page

Thanks to all the ladies for their stunning entries in this month Create-A-page this month was too close to call!  Have I mentioned before how happy we are that staff don’t vote?  A big congratulations goes out to Sharon Hassall for her gorgeous page ‘Purrfectly Content’. Sharon has won the contest a few times now so her scrapbooking style and the way she puts all the papers and embellishments together must really appeal to you all - as it does to us. Well done Sharon! We are proud of you!!

There are still a couple of the current kits available for purchase.  This month’s colours are fun without being too bright - reminds me of Easter and/or Spring -pink, golden yellow, orange, lime green and sky blue! A colour for everyone!!

Product Pick - Girly and Feminine are the two words to sum up this months kit. Using papers from Imaginisce’s range ‘Lucy Bird’ in shades of pink and aqua.  Can’t wait to see what the girls will create.

Take 2 - My Minds Eye ‘Little Boy Blue’ range features this month in Take 2 in tones of brown, blue green and olive green.

Dimensional Pop - Lynette gets to play with one of her favourite companies -  Graphic 45.  Brace yourself for some fabulous vintage!

Classy Cards - Elegance and muted tones describe American Crafts ‘Botanique’ range best. Michelle’s card creations this month will be in tones of soft yellow, salmon pink and sage green.

Trend Studio - Tags! Tags! Tags! This months trend focus on the good old staple item of TAGS!!!! But Melissa always manages to breathe new life into any project she undertakes.  What will she do with the humble tag?

In The Woods - a range with an outdoors theme and as you can imagine in browns, greens and cream.

Sophie - Susan has used this range for her display behind the front counter.  Gorgeous page, gorgeous range featuring plum, cream, brown, aqua and orange colours.

Mama-razzi - Strange title but OMG!!! Love this range with muted and distressed papers in denim blue, terracotta and green tones.

Happy Easter!!!

Easter has arrived on our doorstep!!! Here’s hoping the Easter Bunny does as well armed with baskets full of chocolate!!! Yum…  If you and your family are travelling over the school holidays and the Easter break please take care and drive safe.  Not to mention have an AWESOME time!! For those of you who are staying at home - come in and have an awesome time with us!!!!

We will be closed on the public holidays over the Easter break but will be open for trading on Easter Saturday from 9am-2pm during which time we will be offering FREE crop time. If you’re keen to attend some classes over the holidays we do have a couple of vacancies in our classes for next week including Kids Club Scrap and Moonlighting - both on Friday April 9. Please call the store if you’re interested in booking in for these classes or want more information on which other classes still have vacancies.

Another 30 odd boxes were delivered today!  It is SO exciting to see all the new products!  Don’t forget we’ve unveiled a lot of new stock last week as mentioned in the previous newsletter and joining those on the floor is our American Crafts shipment!!! We’re loving all of their new papers especially the Elizabeth Kartchner range of papers… Oh! and all the glitter papers too…. and the glitter brads….. and the Thickers….. and the ribbons……. Create-A-Page

It’s months like this when the quality of pages handed in for Create-A-Page are mind blowing that we, the staff, at Scrapbooks etc are glad that we have nothing to do with the judging process. Most February kits that sold were returned for judging and each and every page was truly exceptional, including that of our winner, Karen Lendich. Big congratulations go out to you, Karen!!! Karen’s page “Just in Love’ is a single page cleverly constructed in a grid format made up of chipboard covered with patterned papers from the kit. Karen has won for herself a $20 gift voucher to spend in store.

And we have just counted March’s entries and are very pleased to announce the winner of this month’s Create-A-Page is Sue Kerkin. Sue’s ‘Two Little Dickie Birds’ page is just gorgeous and shows fantastic use of all the papers and embellishments from the kit as well as the special requirement for the month, which was using 3 different hand-stitching techniques on the one layout. Sue also wins for herself a $20 gift voucher to spend in store and her page will be up on display until mid-April.

We still have a couple of kits on sale for entries to be handed back in on the 31^st March or you might prefer to purchase the kit to create at your leisure at home. April Classes

Copy Cat - Susan uses the MME Quite Contrary range in pink and aqua tones this month.

Product Pick - If you like your papers to have an antique or aged look to them then you will love this month’s Product Pick kit. You’ll be using the MME Life’s Stories range in muted green and kraft tones and subtle patterns.  Will the girls take the vintage look of the kit and run with it or will they give them a modern makeover?

Take 2 - April sees Kerryn working with the cute range ‘Be Loved’ from My Mind’s Eye in salmon pink, aqua and muted red tones.  We can’t wait to see what she comes up with for her two single layouts.

Dimensional Pop – Lynette will be creating a girly page with Glitz Designs ‘Maya’ range in navy, pink, white and green.  You’ll need 1 x 4x6” colour landscaped photo, 1 x colour portrait 2x3” and 2 x colour portrait 1.5x2” photos.

Sketched! - After the shock of last months required 12 photos Lyndal has mixed it up again with the photographs for this month. You will need 1 6x12” landscaped photo and 3 x 3x4” inch portrait photos.

Classy Cards - Michelle has the pleasure of creating her gorgeous cards with the Upsy Daisy range ‘See Ya Later Alligator’ this month.  This range is boy inspired in soft tones of green, blue and orange.

Trend Studio - After many requests, April’s Trend Studio will feature ‘hand stitched’ elements by Melissa. You will learn to make your stitches perfectly neat and incorporate new styles of stitching onto your layout.

April also means school holidays.  We have a class on the timetable to cater for the kids on Friday April 9.

We also have one lucky last spot in our Create-A-Weekend due to a cancellation. The weekend runs Friday March 26 (6pm-Mid) and Saturday March 27 (10am-Mid) and is held in store.  Give us a call if you would like to come along.

All new layouts featured behind the counter are showing off 5 different companies and their new ranges released at CHA.  We have received our first shipment from CHA and are still in the middle of unpacking so more new stock will hit the shelves in upcoming days!!! Always fun to have new stuff to play with!!!!

Each year in their home the Chinese New Year is a major cause for celebration, so to help welcome the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac we are launching our Red Envelope Promotion.  Whilst Sunday February 14 is the date when the year of the Tiger officially starts we are launching our promotion tomorrow!!!!!!!! We have prepared heaps of red envelopes stamped in gold and Confucius says each one contains a very special discount! Each envelope contains a discount coupon ranging from 25% up to a massive 50% off your entire purchase of full priced items. This voucher must be used on the day of your visit, which should be an easy task as we are open tomorrow, Friday February 12 from 9am-5pm and then from 6pm-Midnight during ‘Moonlighting’ and again on Saturday from 9am-4pm when the promotion will finish.

 

March Classes

New to the timetable this month is an off-the-page project using a film tin as the base before being “shabbied up” in gorgeous papers from Fancypants.  Keep an eye out for ‘Treasure Tin’ - perfect for a gift or for keeping for yourself to store your special keepsakes in!

 

Club Scrap

If you are wishing to join a great group of ladies and make Wednesday your regular scrapbooking day then join us for ‘Club Scrap’. Club Scrap is held every week and is a fun social outing as well as a chance to get a few pages done.

Take 2 - Kerryn has scored this month! She is the lucky one who gets to use the gorgeous papers from Prima for her Take 2 masterpieces

Classy Cards - Awww too cute…Michelle’s creations this month are using We R Memory Keepers cute Twirl range of papers

Trend Studio - For the one I love is Melissa’s theme this month.  This can be anyone in your life that you love - not necessarily your Valentines.

Dimensional Pop - Seasons range from Crate Paper.  This month Lynette has scrapped a funky boy layout although this range will suit girls as well. All you’ll need is a 4x6” vertical colour photo.

Sketched! - Lyndal tests you all this month with a double layout containing 12 photos! 2 Horizontal 4x6”, 3 Horizontal 3x4” (1/2 size), 3 Horizontal ¼ size and 4 Vertical ¼ size photos…Phew!!! Can’t wait to see what the girls come up with!!
